Melanie Murphy has shared an insight with her relationship with alcohol, revealing that there are multiple reasons why she made the choice to give it up entirely three years ago.
She said; “I did I quit about three years ago now and I never thought I’d be sitting here saying that. I just have always had quite an unhealthy relationship with alcohol.” The Skerries native, who got married recently, shared that it was starting to impact her relationships when she did drink. Although she added that she would never have described herself as an alcoholic, she said that drinking could bring out a ‘nasty side’ to her.
“And I said, ‘Enough is enough’. I could tell I could ruin the best thing that ever happened to me by choosing drink over my relationships and my social life.”Melanie and her now husband, Thomas had to call of their big wedding in 2020 due to the pandemic, and wed in March 2020 with her Dad by her side. Since then the pair have been able to celebrate properly and had their dream day in March of this year with all of their friends and family in attendance.
