Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Breaks Box Office Record For Best Video Game Movie Opening Ever

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 has had the biggest box office weekend ever for a movie adapted from a video game. In the past, video game adaptations were a tall order for the film industry. Due to so many people having experienced the stories through playing the games, the expectations set for the movie always end up being extremely high.

2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog is at the forefront of successful video game adaptations. When first announced, Sonic was met with heavy skepticism due to the intriguing design choices the creators had made for the titular hedgehog. After listening to these concerns, though, Paramount Pictures decided to delay the film to fix the way Sonic looked.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is also likely to surpass the first film's other record as North America’s highest grossing video game film ever. With spring break on the horizon for many schools across the country, families everywhere are likely to see the film in the coming weeks. Additionally, with Jim Carrey saying he is likely retiring soon, some moviegoers may be interested in seeing the star's possible final role on the big screen.

Paramount has already confirmed that there will be a third installment in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, which is clearly a smart move after the success of both of the first two films. Additionally, Paramount has also announced there will be a Knuckles spin-off show released with Idris Elba signed on to continue voicing the character.

Everyone, don’t pay any attention to ChannelSonamy . There is nothing wrong with Paramount not following the games’ canon and he knows it. He just hates Shadow because too many people ship him with Amy and Sonic, and there’s nothing he can do about it.
