Chris Rock says he will talk about the Oscars slap from actor Will Smith — for a price.

The comedian told fans Friday at his comedy show in Indio, California, not to expect any content related to the shocking TV moment, at least for a while.

"I'm OK, I have a whole show, and I'm not talking about that until I get paid,” Rock said, according to the Desert Sun. “Life is good. I got my hearing back."Smith slapped Rock two weeks ago while he was presenting the nominees for best documentary at the 2022 Academy Awards in Los Angeles. The comedian made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and her baldness due to alopecia, a condition that causes hair loss.

It is unclear whether Rock’s comments about getting paid implied he was holding out for a network to pay him for a sit-down interview or whether he was talking about a civil lawsuit against Will Smith.Rock declined to file a police report following the Oscars ceremony that night. Smith was banned from attending the Oscars for 10 years, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Friday. The actor resigned from the Academy on April 1.
