While there is no obligation to upgrade Waveform Free, there are plenty of opportunities to add on samplers, synthesizers, audio content packs, and other options or to upgrade to a version of Waveform Pro at any time., but most producers eventually graduate to expanding their setup to more than just a laptop with software. However, if a laptop and software are all you have, go for it.
