Enjoying the event is less about who you are than where you are.

The Houston Art Car Parade is the largest event of its kind, and that means the logistics of actually seeing the parade can be confusing. Here are a few ways to make sure you get the most out of the experience. If you have the money, a ticket to the VIPit area will ensure you shaded seating and free food and drink in the theater district part of the route with an optimal view of the festivities. Adults are $175 each, but children are more reasonable at $35. Does not include parking.

The cars will be lined up between Taft and Bagby before the start of the parade, usually with their creators on hand to answer any questions. Paid parking is available at the garage at 1111 Smith, only one block from the starting line. There are paid street parking spots around Taft and Allen Parkway for people who want to start at the end and move forward. The most laid-back viewing spots are along Allen Parkway between Waugh and Taft on the north side.
