Mother of deceased teen actor sues B.C. child protection authorities

Marlyse Jeanette Williams says that her son, Logan Kari Williams, was removed from her care and placed under the protection of social services in May 2019.

The mom alleges that the facility failed to have proper security resulting in lethal drugs entering the detention centre and Logan suffering an overdose.Article content Marlyse Williams says hospital staff told her that a comprehensive plan would be put in place for her son upon his discharge, with Logan requiring 24-hour supervision for his safety.

“Esau House was negligent in not following their own policies,” says the lawsuit. “Esau House had full knowledge of the risks to Logan and should have put in place better safeguards to prevent Logan from leaving unattended.” Marlyse Williams says that she has lost her only child, her life has changed forever, and she suffers severe depression, emotional distress and heightened anxiety.Article contentShe says her son was a happy and healthy child, very active in sports and the arts, and was popular, polite, insightful and very kind.

He did not land either part, but was dedicated and determined to continue with his career, says his mother.
