Their season has spiraled out of their control during an 0-8-2 slide that’s threatening the franchise’s all-time winless streak of 0-8-4, set in 2018-19

IRVINE — Sam Steel cross-checked Josh Mahura against the glass during the Ducks’ practice Wednesday at Great Park Ice. Mahura then went after Steel and a fight nearly ensued during a competitive drill one day after the Ducks’ winless streak reached 10 consecutive games.

Perhaps the Ducks are merely in one of the first stages of grief: anger. Their season has spiraled out of their control during an 0-8-2 slide that’s threatening the franchise’s all-time winless streak of 0-8-4, set during the dark days between Dec. 18, 2018 and Jan. 15, 2019. No question, the Ducks had played one of their better games recently during a 3-2 loss Tuesday to the Stars. They were aggressive, determined and hardly pushovers while playing against a team battling for a playoff spot. They were still the losing team by night’s end, though.But there won’t be any pity parties, according to Ducks coach Dallas Eakins..
