Piers Morgan says says he felt 'moved to defend' the actor

Piers Morgan has defended Will Smith after he slapped Chris Rock on stage during Sunday night’s Oscars ceremony in Hollywood.

Now, Piers has insisted that he also would have felt compelled to protect his wife once he noticed she was hurt by the apparent mocking of her alopecia. "And whilst I don’t condone violence, Will Smith didn’t punch him. It was just a slap, that Rock shrugged off with good humour." "In previous eras, he’d have been saluted for defending his girl, not savaged by an overly sensitive snowflake society."

"My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally."
