The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences says it condemns the actions of Will Smith during Sunday night’s Oscars and it will launch a formal review of his slapping of presenter Chris Rock.
Smith stunned the Dolby Theatre crowd and viewers at home when he took the stage during Rock’s remarks after the comedian made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith, Smith’s wife. Rock turned to Jada Pinkett Smith, Smith’s wife, and said, "Jada, I love you. ‘G.I. Jane 2,’ can’t wait to see it."

Well then maybe the academy should do something about scripts with offensive jokes about people who are present at the event and have a medical condition. Making jokes about people with a medical condition is not funny it's offensive.
I really hate to say it but that “award” needs to get taken away for his behavior. Also, it’s obvious he his suffering and desperately needs help. Wishing nothing but the best for him and his family but Consequences need to be enacted.
It seems pretty simple. Will Smith violated their code of conduct. It's not a case of maybe or did he. He was broadcast live to millions. So he should be expelled and have his Oscar taken off him. Maybe donate it to a charity auction for victims of violence / abuse.
The Academy controls the words the presenters say as they only read what’s on the teleprompter. They had rehearsals and they did nothing to tone down jokes and such. The Academy needs to punish themselves if they’re going to punish too then!
