Enraged, Smith ran onto the stage and hit Rock in the face. “Keep my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth” the actor shouted at the stunned comedian after returning to his seat.for his performance in King Richard and gave a teary-eyed apology during his acceptance speech.
The Academy issued a statement against violence after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock onstage at the Oscars.
It has condoned violence against women, it has condoned racism against rewarding black women and men for their work. It condoned Hattie McDaniel standing in the back rows unseen and now it’s condoning heckling from the stage of a black woman for guffaws.
