The Panoply 2022 music headliners may not be legacy acts, but they represent present tense, sonics and diversity. Georgia group Hero the Band, and Friday headliners, stir indie rock and Instagram pop for what Rolling Stone magazine has called a “unique musical vision.” Hero the Band’s song “Trouble In My Mind” has been streamed nearly a million times on Spotify.
Sandpaper-voiced and sequin-suited Nashville singer/songwriter Paul McDonald will close Panoply’s mainstage music lineup. A Rocket City native and Huntsville High grad, McDonald’s music can range from ambient balladry to anthemic Americana to radio rock. And yeah, McDonald’s profile got a boost in 2011 by his appearance on “American Idol.”
All told, the 2022 Panoply lineup spans more than 20 acts, from jazz and blues to R&B and rock and hues in between. New to the festival this year: An “Art OutLoud Stage” on Saturday lifting up local poets, authors and comedians.
