What a job Peter Jackson has done with this hard to believe the footage is over 100 years old..it really brings the story of this horrific war to life.

katybooth The man who I call dad , I was adopted, fought in WW1 , he was shot in the leg, when he was ready he went back to the front where he was subjected to a mustard gas attack, my adopted mum was a motorcycle courier and met my dad while he was recuperating in hospital
I managed to watch it last night, I thought o was very well made and very emotional and showing what it was really like during WW1
The best thing on tv by far in a very long time, well done Peter Jackson, top quality film!!

It's really wonderful seeing their faces in colour, it makes it more real some how and that is why we must never ever forget what they sacrificed for us.

It's not just the technical aspect of how they restored the video that is brilliant but how he has overlaid the stories from them signing up as children to returning home.
This was a superb piece of television in a sea of dross...Moving and interesting...I cannot recommend highly enough for people to watch. This is a must see!

It should be played in all secondary schools imo. Brutal documentary/film, but so worthwhile to watch.
My father was in the First World War, I could not bear to watch this.
