The Kremlin has seized on the claim that the U.S. has illegally funded Ukraine’s biolabs for weapons purposes as part of its justification for the invasion of Ukraine.
The whole affair is an extraordinary look at Russia’s weaponization of misinformation, and how a rumour rocketed to the the very top of geopolitical tensions. Well the question has to be asked what are the US doing with Biolabs in Ukraine in the first place? And secondly if these labs are so innocent why are they worried about them ending up in Russian hands? I don't know the answer but they seem reasonable questions to ask.
