NEW YORK — A live evening news program on Russia’s state television channel was interrupted Monday by a person who walked into the studio holding a poster protesting the war in Ukraine.
The moment was a risky protest in a country where independent media has been blocked or shuttered and it has become illegal to contradict the government’s narrative of the war. An anchor was speaking during the newscast when a woman appeared on camera behind her holding a sign with “no war” scrawled in English across the top, with a message in Russian below calling on people not to believe Russian propaganda.that says troops entered Ukraine to save people from “neo-Nazis” and to defend Russians from a country that was preparing to attack. The invasion of Ukraine is being characterized in Russia as a “special military operation.
Woman who denounced war on Russian TV fined for flouting protest laws (Is Russia pretending that there will be no additional action against her?)
Twitter banned a president of the USA for exposing the fake news and lies of the USA media.
Brave Soul a true Warrior. I pray for her safety after her arrest.
BRAVO Marina Ovsyannikova! My thoughts on how to penetrate Putin's Media Iron Curtain in Russia, a necessary step to having any hope of removing Putin from power
🙏
The Ukrainian people are brave but these Russian protestors are literally facing death by their actions. Would you die for your beliefs?
MarinaOvsyannikova employed by Channel 1 showed an incredible act of bravery on Russia’s main state TV with a poster exposing the lies being broadcast on the station.
