A landscape art exhibit will open March 5, and the Adrian West Trio will perform acoustic rock on the same day. Other everts are coming up too.

Local artist Robert Broki will present a new landscape-themed exhibit of his paintings Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 5-20. The exhibit is a diary of his recent travels to locales with fauna and flora that survive in harsh conditions — including California’s Death Valley and Anza Borrego deserts, the high country of the southern Sierra Nevada and the redwoods of the Mendocino coast. His reception will be at 2 p.m. March 13.

. All events at the arts center require photo identification and proof of up-to-date vaccinations and booster for entry as well as proper masking indoors. The arts center is at 801 Magnolia Ave. in Piedmont.Nominations are open for the 2022 Arthur Hecht Volunteer of the Year award. The deadline for confidential nominations is 4:30 p.m. March 18.

The recipient will be chosen by a selection committee and recognized at the May 11 school board meeting. He or she will also receive the gift of a work of student art, for which the student will receive a monetary award and commendation from the board.The city’s Planning & Building and Public Works departments are implementing a pilot program to change counter service house, effective next week. Counter service includes unscheduled inquiries as well as by phone and email.
