Home and Away has called Summer Bay home since 1988, but Palm Beach is a real place with real residents. The exclusive enclave of Palm Beach provides million-dollar views for the fictional inhabitants of Summer Bay.have been accused by a residents group of taking over a park, creating an “intimidating presence” and ruining the public’s enjoyment of the green space.
Ms Christensen said on these days the public was often alienated from parts of the park by barriers, while traffic was impeded and parking areas were blocked off. Ms Christensen said park users were impacted by the noise of huge trucks and generators, which she said regularly parked on the edge of the road, breaking away the tarmac and damaging the grass.
Ms Christensen said the residents’ group welcomed the benefits the television show provided to local businesses such as accommodation, surf schools and hospitality providers.“However we are concerned that the filming fees charged in Governor Phillip Park for the filming ofdo not reflect comparative rates in other cities where the location is a major element of the brand and is a vital outdoor studio for the work,” she said.
