Women have been suppressing their anger for decades and it has damaged them not just psychologically, but physically, too. Now, an unlikely show is helping to show women a way out. Psychology

Melanie Lynskey who plays Shauna in the hit show Yellowjackets, says she relates to her character’s struggle to contain her anger. “I had a therapist once say something about, ‘You’re scared that if you even let a little bit of it out, it’ll just never stop.’”So we did our best to keep it in. There was just one problem. Suppressing our anger has made so many of us feel crazy.

, a show about a group of teenage girls whose plane crashes in the remote wilderness, and who resort to cannibalism and poisoning to survive - starring Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci and Melanie Lynskey – would be the thing to help us feel less crazy and alone?I thought to myself, as Shauna , now in middle age and bristling with rage and guilt over what she’s experienced and what she had to do to survive it, listens to a trivia show on the radio, in her kitchen, while she’s doing the ironing.

Juliette Lewis, who stars as Natalie, a recovering addict still traumatised by her teenage experiences, in Yellowjackets, bonded with her co-stars over their “horror stories” of the sexism and misogyny they faced as film stars in the 1990s, her co-star Melanie Lynskey told The New York Times. This experience with tamping down rage is what initially drew Lynskey to the role.

“There’s a lot of research on the fact that expressive suppression tends to have sort of bad physiological outcomes, cardiovascular stress; it’s not good for you to be doing this in sort of a chronic way,” says Carolyn MacCann, an associate psychology professor at the University of Sydney and an expert on emotions.

Yes, well spending time with an angry wife or girlfriend ranks right up there with slamming a car door on my hand Bye now 👋

The movie has potential to turn them into a narcissus as their cathexis is expressed in tearing at the paycheque of sustenance which provides their autarky.

Total BS. The reason why men generally die earlier from heart attacks & strokes is precisely is because they rage through lack of self control. We should see the same conditions rise in women with this dumb advice.

You haven't met my wife

The anger should be directed at those who promised them they could have it all, and disparage motherhood to become as cool and soulless as men. I think they call themselves feminists.

Women need to get over themselves .

Women don't seem to have any issue expressing anger. I think you have confused them with sloths.
