Vicki Lawrence – who worked with White on “Mama’s Family” – exclusively told Page Six that she contacted co-star and pal Carol Burnett as soon as she heard the tragic news.
Lawrence continued, “How sweet is that? I said, ‘That is so sweet. God, I hope that’s true. For all of us, I really hope it’s true, a lovely thought.’”, just weeks away from what would have been her 100th birthday on Jan. 17. She was married to Ludden from 1963 until his death in 1981 at the age of 72 from stomach cancer.Recalling what it was like to work with White, Lawrence told Page Six it was always a joy.
Lawrence said that White got the golden retrievers and returned them to their home “because that’s what Betty would do.”Lawrence also told Page Six that White was a rare breed in the entertainment industry. On top of her incredible talents and work ethic, Lawrence said White was also wickedly funny off-camera.

I really want this to be true. It doesn't sound far fetched to me at all, my grandpa passed last February and the weeks leading up to his death he kept seeing my late grandma, we finally told him to tell her we said hi and we miss her and he passed 5 minutes later.
I don’t care if this is actually true or not (though who am I to doubt Carol Burnett) but I choose to believe it is.
The agent said she died in her sleep so how would she know that Betty said anything. I think the agent just made up that story to make people feel better.
I knew Allen was waiting in the light by the gates. Betty said she did not fear death, because she know Allen would be there. I’m ugly crying…..

I saw a Ted talk once about near death experiences. The speaker, a doctor, told this story: Hospice nurse: He’s going to pass soon. Doctor: why do say that? Nurse: he’s talking to his dead loved ones. Doctor: I didn’t learn that in medical school. Nurse: *shrug*
