Singaporean singer Stefanie Sun recently dropped her last single of the year The Day Before. Filmed in Singapore, the music video features Singaporean and Malaysian celebrities Mark Lee, Yeo Yann Yann, and Bryan Wong.
The music video weaves the seemingly separate stories of these three characters together, set in a world full of chaos and disasters. Theories on the world is ending also surfaced as a result. Despite the bleak circumstances, a ray of hope still shines through in the form of familial love. Mark Lee portrays an optimistic psychic, who gives out “lucky stones” and believes that faith can change the world. Yeo Yann Yann acts as a superstitious and conservative single mother, while Bryan Wong portrays a withdrawn newscaster, who is a lone ranger.
The ending of the music video sees the guest appearances of her parents, her children and even her mentors — Singaporean musicians Lee Si Song and Lee Wei Song. Similar to her previous music video Viva Anon, the ending also packs a delightful easter egg., “I’ve been a singer for so long, but I’ve never thought about what to film for my music videos. Perhaps I wasn’t someone full of ideas last time, and didn’t think I would have a chance to do this.
She also disclosed that the production of the music video met uncertainties, which include the COVID-19 restrictions and weather conditions. “Planning for something like this was challenging and exhilarating.
