RTE stars praise brave Charlie Bird after heartbreaking Late Late Show admission

Former RTE news correspondent Charlie Bird left Late Late Show viewers heartbroken after he shared his struggles with motor neurone disease.

He spoke to Ryan Tubridy on Friday night about what keeps him going, how long he expects to live and the one thing he wants to achieve before he dies. RTE stars and former colleagues were among the masses praising Bird for his "incredible" courage in sharing his story. Recently retired Midlands Correspondent Ciaran Mullooly said: "He showed he cared about people …not just on air and it wasn’t just about getting a story . He really did care. I pray he will find the strength to deal with his own illness now . He deserves our support. The Reek awaits us @franmcnulty @SineadHus @FintanD #LateLateShow."
