When I tried the dress on again weeks ago, I noticed a problem. It is decorated with dozens of beautiful gold bangles, so with every move I sounded like a life-size tambourine. I asked Olga, my tailor, what could be done. The verdict: Absolutely nothing. I was advised to save it for a raucous New Year’s Eve party, but not for a screening that would require me to be quiet for an hour. The hunt was on, again.
