Based on true events, Redmayne played one of the first people in the world who underwent gender reassignment surgery in the Tom Hooper-directed film.

'An actor should play aNy charACTer!1' ok. Except that trans actors rarely get to play non trans characters. But that doesn't seem to get as much clicks...easier to get offended about a non-trans person with fame and a long list of movies being questioned about one role.
bunch of people who have no problem with a man being cast to play a trans woman, who i kind of suspect would not be saying 'he's an actor, it's just acting' if a man were hired to play jackie O or whoever

It wasn't and it shouldn't be. An actor should be able to explore and get into all types of characters. Then, what is even the point of acting?
