In one of her viral TikToks, Mimi Webb introduces her hit song, “Dumb Love,” from the driver's seat of her car. "Do you remember your first love? I want to take you back to that feeling with this song," she shouts excitedly before the chorus kicks in. It's a track from her upcoming EP—Debuting new songs in this setting is not unusual for Mimi who regularly films the reactions of family and friends as she performs.
The singer grew up in the British countryside in a town called Canterbury, which she recalls as lovely and a stark contrast from her new home in London. "It's a great environment with close friends. It's not really the biggest place," she jokes about her hometown. Now releasing her EP, Mimi still sources her songwriting inspiration from her life. "I think that's a big part of my songwriting, just connecting to people and kind of like, understanding people. I'm quite emotional. I really care for others," she says. She explains that conversations with friends and strangers will often make their way into her songs, like an archeologist mining her life for artifacts.
