Actor Rex Ryan has revealed how his late father thought his name would look good on a movie poster and encouraged him to go into acting.The Dubliner said: “Most parents are usually saying ‘no, you’re mad, don’t go into that industry’ because of how precarious it is.He joked: “I’ve questioned that now, a movie poster or a sort of porn star name. Either/or he was thinking of there.”
Rex has already appeared on The Abbey Theatre stage, in roles on TV including Vikings, independent Irish film Monged and music videos for Irish band Inhaler and For Those I Love, aka David Balfe from Dublin.But he admitted theatre was not always his ambition. “So I just mobilised all these people and said I’ve got this tiny cafe let’s do some great new plays.”
