Dancing With The Stars judge Loraine Barry has revealed she was so broke in the early days she sewed feathers on costumes and cleaned flats to pay for dance lessons.
She told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “When I started out I was an amateur, as such I wasn’t allowed to earn money, so it was an absolute struggle. She added: “If there was an odd job going like feathering a dress, I took up all those jobs, so I would stick on those feathers. “When I first went over to Southport at almost 18 years of age, my then partner Andrew’s mother had flats and I became a cleaner.
Loved up with her partner Peter who works in finance, Loraine insists she bounced back after two failed marriages.“I’m glad to say I have a very great relationship with my first husband Andrew [Skinkinson]. We were childhood sweethearts, we work in the same dance studio, so everything there is very good. “But life goes on, you pick up the pieces, you brush yourself down and you go on because life is a privilege.“My partner now is a non dancer.
“There might be more of a trouser suit coming in, when I wore a tuxedo suit last season, I got so many messages in, from fans saying they loved it.“I’m thrilled for the Irish people that they’re going to get a fabulous show back on TV on a Sunday night to get us through that winter.”
