Dr Amir Khan warned that any new variants of the Covid-19 virus could be ‘missed’ if fully vaccinated people returning from a green list country no longer have to take PCR tests.is expected to be announced later today.
On Friday’s episode of Lorraine, Dr Amir called the rumoured move ‘worrying’, and urged the focus not to be solely on whether people are vaccinated. ‘There might be new variants arising and if you’re not PCR testing people, even though they’ve been double vaccinated – yes it protects you, yes it may reduce the transmission but it doesn’t stop transmission completely.
