Everybody’s Talking About Jamie benefits from its transition from stage to screen - dialling up the nuance, paring back the music, and adding Richard E Grant.

In converting the staged musical to a film version, Butterell faced another risk — one inherent to these kinds of adaptations: all that earnestness can become grating, and those big song-and-dance numbers don't always survive the scrutiny of a camera crew.

They save the sparkle for the musical numbers, which are almost entirely framed as fantasies direct from Jamie's imagination . In the stage show, we meet Hugo and his Loco Chanelle persona through a thoroughly bombastic and camp number that does little to flesh out Hugo's character or the world of drag, playing into easy stereotypes.

Miss Loco Chanelle's look was inspired by the work of renowned American photographer Nan Goldin, who captured the 80s drag scene.

Alarm over child mental health as lockdowns trigger ‘undiagnosed, unrecognised’ issuesDespite surging mental health issues, some mental health workers have found a range of children do not find home schooling as difficult as others, with online learning suiting particular personality types. | ClayLucas ClayLucas Agreed, 85% (guesstimate of my cohorts) seem to be fine. That's still a few who find remote learning difficult, but most of those seem to find schooling trickly in any case with organisational and motivation issues. Still, it is a real pastoral issue for those. ClayLucas Since when do we care about mental health when for the past decades its been something that doesn't exist and u can just take a tablet for? 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ ClayLucas Gosh - you've just realised that? Australia has run a remote learning system for decades without any noticeable (or headline worthy) issues, in the outback. You've probably heard of it, there have been dozens of documentaries on it over the years.
