WILLIAM ROACHE is best known for playing Coronation Street long-term resident Ken Barlow. After receiving the Guinness World Record for the longest-serving male television star in a continuous role, the star was forced to take a rare break from the soap due to ill health.

He said: “My house is particularly cut off from the outside here in Wilmslow, Cheshire. The days are going quickly and we're really enjoying ourselves together.
