'Respect', the mega new film about Aretha Franklin starring Jennifer Hudson, is out this Friday – here's everything you need to know

Respect traces the life of Franklin from the age of 10, where she was already an extraordinary talent with a voice beyond her years and would perform at her father's parties as well as in Church.

Getting candid about the film and her relationship with Franklin, Hudson said: “She’s one of my ultimate idols. And to just meet your idol is a moment in a lifetime, right? So to meet her, and then to be able to pay tribute to her numerous times and then to have it to be my dream to want to play her and then to have her say, I want you to play me? Like that’s a lot to take in.
