The Victorian Premier was asked if vaccine passports should be brought in, seen in countries such as Singapore and Denmark, to give residents who are fully vaccinated more freedoms.
"I will make a bold prediction - you won't be getting a visa to too many countries if you haven't been double dosed." Mr Andrews ruled out locking down residents who choose not to get a vaccine as it would become"incredibly difficult" to enforce. "If we can achieve zero, that's a terrific outcome. If we can't, we are all the better for having tried to drive the numbers down as low as possible because this is the key point," he said.
"It is not like they are open. They are locked down as well," Mr Andrews stressed."Their hospitals are under enormous stress. I wish them well."
Lets see if a social credit system (Chinese style) is next on the list
Seriously Gonzo from The Muppets could run the state better than LloydChristmas
Great. Vaccine passports will provide an extra incentive for people to get vaccinated. Thanks Dan
today, media said there is a new variant coming from South Africa which is 2x as infectious as Delta and may not be treatable using the current vaccines. If so, Premiers will continue to lockdown and even harder :(
EU is in the process of banning flight from US & Israel due to spikes of the Delta variant. Remember Israel as one of the best vaccination (Pfizer) rates in the world. Maybe vaccine passports are not the panacea of unrestricted travel after all?
Vaccine doesn’t reduce the viral load that person is carry or ability to infect others, even if they do not fall sick themselves. It produces a false sense of security + can VIC hospitals deal with the resulting spike?
