Hollywood knowingly held most of its biggies until after the summer. However, now the studios must determine if these underperformances from these far-from-surefire franchise flicks mean that the “safer” post-summer tentpoles are equally “doomed.” The easy answer would be to say that when going to the movies still causes some skittishness even among the vaccinated , many of these films were not seen as must-see-in-theaters flicks.
Under this notion, I don’t expect to see a flurry of date changes. Universal and Focus have mostly small flicks untilat Christmas.
