Val Kilmer Compares Playing Batman to Acting in a Soap Opera: “It Made No Difference What I Was Doing”

BatmanKilmer was on vacation in Africa years later when he got an offer via his agent to play the DC Comics hero and replace Michael Keaton infor Warner Bros.

His star power was undeniable — he’d played Iceman in 1986’s blockbuster— but he abandoned his usual protocol and accepted the part without even reading the script, or apparently knowing who the director was . It would be a disappointing experience, even if the 1995 blockbuster made him forever famous around the globe.

Same with heavy prosthetics working for Universal . All of us with a full face and neck glued on were fully traumatized. It was VERY isolating after a few hours on & we all would get to the point of wanting to rip it off even if the glue would tear skin.
