Salon owner Jaye Edwards says Mr Hunter’s ABC interview was not an accurate representation of the industry.
“Chris runs a salon with approximately 3 staff members and a capacity of 10, my Crown Street salon alone has 30 chairs and employs over 40 hairstylists,” Edwards told Emerald City. “We have rent to pay for multiple salons, and this time around landlords aren’t being nearly as lenient, we have suppliers to pay.”
Edwards runs eight salons across the country and employs 150 staff. In a bid to keep his business afloat during lockdown Edwards has created an at-home DIY dye kit for clients in need of colour touchups.
