Malaysia’s Covid-19 infection curve starts to show sign of flattening

KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 — The country’s seven-day rolling average for Covid-19 infections has now deviated from a Health Ministry forecast for Malaysia to reach 13,000 daily cases in two weeks’ time, in the first signs that efforts to flatten the curve were working.

According to data Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah shared early this morning, the seven-day moving average has hovered around 8,000 cases for the past three days.“The infectivity rate of Covid-19, or the R0/Rt, forecast based on daily cases since June 1 for the entire country was 1.07,” he also said on Twitter. After hitting an alarming 9,020 cases on May 29, Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 cases have dropped back down to 6,000-7,000 range.

However, some medical professionals still argue that the high positivity rate of over 7 per cent from all tests performed indicated that Malaysia’s cases were still being under-reported. The World Health Organization has set a positivity rate of 5 per cent as a proxy indicator for adequate testing, with higher rates suggesting that a country was not performing enough tests to detect Covid-19.Kadar kebolehjangkitan Covid-19 atau Ro/Rt pada jangkaan mengikut kes seharian pada 1 hb Jun 2021 untuk seluruh negara adalah 1.07.. Manakala pecahan mengikut negeri adalah seperti di lampiran.

Let's hope the numbers will continue to go down.

Please, when referring to articles, you should read the whole articles, not looking at the headline and shouting like headless chickens, if you go past the initial paragraph, they stated that since the positivity rate are hovering around 7%, 1/2

Too soon to tell.

Irresponsible and misleading headline! 2 days into MCO and this is published? saifuddinabd , media needs to play its role responsibly in distributing the right information to help educate the reality. Encouraging ignorant complacency does the opposite.

Hopefully in 2 weeks, we see workplace clusters dropping.

Ha ha ha! In 1 day? Do hope you guys are not smoking/inhaling something illegal!

Oh come on. Just second day of lockdown and curve going down? It already sound fishy now that the past data are genuine.

We can do this ! Malaysia darurat lockdown RakyatGagal selangorkugagal

i would like to know the stats of covid cases involving malays and non malays….. very much

Stupid headline !!! What are you trying to do? What about testing more or less for the said period. this is below the belt headline!

yeobeeyin Yes, we are fed up on flip flop SOP & double standards, etc, but let’s be fair, we are all part of it too Don’t bring one big family out even when rules relax, don’t balik kampung/visting, don’t clubbing/party like no covid, wear mask properly & take 1st vaccine available please.

This ejaculation is premature.

After one day of lockdown? Come on. Easy to achieve this so-called 'flattening' - just test less. Let's not get complacent about this.

Be very careful reporting this , MM. the last thing we need is ppl start to put their guards down. You need to verify the data b4 publishing such article/ statement. Pls encourage vaccination by helping to interview / statement from ppl who might help.

yeobeeyin Is flattening or lesser test?

So did we need that hasty total lockdown or was MCO 3.0 sufficient to stand?
