“We reassert our call for greater scrutiny on the sale of government assets and property, and demand the right to know and greater transparency on the dealings of government procurement and sales of property.”
Despite Khalid’s efforts to salvage the deals, Cynthia questioned how they had occurred in the first place and whether standard operating procedures had been followed.
“We also want MACC to investigate Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan over its involvement in the land deals, and for MPs from the Federal Territories to show greater concern over such serious activity occurring in their own backyard,” she said in a statement.
C4 executive director Cynthia Gabriel said Khalid’s explanations cast the current status of the land deals in a suspicious light. She urged Khalid to explain in Parliament how the incidents took place and the kind of preventive measures he intends to implement.
It also called for a halt to the sale of remaining properties, voicing concern over recent developments in DBKL’s land sales to private developers including what it claimed were “opaque” explanations by Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad.
