For a show that touts its representation and felt like a step forward in the fantasy genre, this reveal is a giant let down. ShadowandBoneNetflix

There's a reason why the photos are getting so much attention and blowback on Twitter — fans love and worship this show, as well as the world the book series created. For a show that touts its representation and felt like a step forward in the fantasy genre, this reveal is a giant let down.

It's all the more baffling and disappointing given that Suman worked so hard for this opportunity to play Inej. In fact, she's said that she was even told that playing this kind of non-stereotypical or sexualized badass female lead characterbecause of the color of her skin.

PLS what journalism is this What research did you do Did you reach out to see where they are filming Did you consider how being in a pandemic impacts ppl willing to fly, or able This is so dumb cred /desidarling123

Stunt doubles aren't actors, they're stuntmen/women. They get hired to do the dangerous shit that the actors shouldn't be doing, because they're actors. Frankly, I wouldn't give a shit if they hired a pale faced, red haired, transgendered goddamn leprechaun to do the stunts

nbmorin If the actor/stunt doubles were reversed, would you still report it?

nbmorin Garbage story about a NON-ISSUE. Read all the comments people posted, explaining how ridiculous this pointless 'outrage' is. People need to worry about more important things. What a waste of time. I'm Indian and literally NO ONE gives a shit about a white stunt-dbl, LOL!

This article is essentially a thread of quote tweets not saying much of anything. Also, might be an ignorant question but have to ask, if the stunt was nonwhite but also not SouthAsian would it still be an issue? Genuinely asking.

Who fking cares? Seriously? What if that person was the best one for the job. I don't see how we don't realize that this is equally discriminatory. The show is good. Get over it.

Finally a big platform is reporting on this

morozovakvas This is in no way any of the actresses faults and i dont want to see hate towards either Amita or Jessie. The ones at fault here are netflix, the casting directors, episode director and the stunt doubles. Also, criticise but please dont send hate. It achieves literally nothing
