Chris Harrison will not host the upcoming season of "The Bachelorette" following controversy over racially insensitive comments, and will instead be replaced with two former contestants, ABC Entertainment and Warner Horizon said in a statement.

Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe will pick up hosting duties for the show's next season, the statement issued late Friday said. Harrison stepped down from hosting for "The Bachelor" in February following the controversy connected to an interview with "Extra." He had defended "Bachelor" contestant Rachael Kirkconnell after she was accused of racially insensitive past behaviour. Past photos of her resurfaced in which she is dressed in costume as a Native American and at an antebellum plantation themed ball.

Harrison had defended Kirkconnell against what he called the "woke police" on social media during the interview. He later apologized for his comments, saying in a statement: "By excusing historical racism, I defended it." "We support Chris in the work that he is committed to doing," ABC and Warner Horizon said Friday's statement. "As we continue the dialogue around achieving greater equity and inclusion within `The Bachelor' franchise, we are dedicated to improving the BIPOC representation of our crew."Related Stories

Time for bachelornation & all the other “reality” shows with all the fake drama to call it quits. It’s become more about exposure for wannabe influencers, insta stars, easy $$, freebies and trips. 🥱 . Ps. Love Chris Harrison though

Time to cancel the sinking recycling show...adding the 2 annoying ex-bachelorettes make the show unwatchable...the show is like the Titanic...sinking fast

Cancel culture is ok for this one.

In olden times, you could get yourself a mail-order bride through the newspaper. This service was a necessary one. These days, the TV networks are pimping women to prospective husbands for profit & titillation. Not much is left to the imagination. We’ve come so far.

The sad reality is Chris Harrison was being interviewed by friend TheRachLindsay who totally threw him under the bus. She led him to slaughter. Nice friend

A production of Crap TV !

America is china now. rott in hell

Thanks for this, it’s just so crucial in these trying times!

I think I will pass on this one.

What passes for entertainment these days is a sad indictment of the state of society. Useless, drivel drama promoting archaic misogynistic ideas of romance and marriage that should have been relegated to the dust bin of history long ago. 🤔
