, will be the first time the White House’s chief medical advisor and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has appeared on the talk show.

The last truly live episode of “A Late Show” at the Theater District venue found Colbert delivering his monologue and interviewing CNN’s chief medical correspondent and esteemed neurosurgeon Dr. Sanjay Gupta in an empty theater with only the show’s staff and crew in the audience. Since then, “A Late Show” has been produced remotely since March 16, 2020, when Colbert delivered his first monologue-in-lockdown at home from his bathtub.

“The Late Show” airs weeknights on CBS. Colbert executive produces alongside Chris Licht, Tom Purcell and Jon Stewart. Separately, late-night comedian and television host Trevor Noah will also be airing a special “Daily Show” episode focused on life in quarantine, one year in. The half-hour episode, entitled “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah Presents: Remotely Educational,” will be the Comedy Central series’ first-ever daytime special and will feature correspondents Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta, Desi Lydic, Dulcé Sloan and Roy Wood, Jr.

The “Daily Show” special is slated to premiere this Wednesday, March 10 at 8:30 a.m. ET and again during the series’ regular airtime at 11 p.m. ET on Comedy Central, and will be available the following morning to view on Paramount Plus, ViacomCBS’ new SVOD and live streaming service. “Daily Show’s” most recent special, “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah Presents: Remembering RBG – A Nation Ugly Cries with Desi Lydic,” was nominated for a Directors Guild of America Award yesterday.
