“Bad Times at the El Royale” is fun, but utterly exhaustingThe new film from the writer of “Cloverfield” and “The Martian” covers too much ground in too little time No one care. A new cult classic. I want to see it again on the big screen. Over 140 minutes but it didn't feel like it until we walked out of the theatre at 1:20 this morning. Jeff Bridges is on fire. Stellar cast. Great story. 'Bad Times At The El Royale' Is A Twisty, Neon-Lit Neo-NoirIn writer/director Drew Goddard's film, several strangers converge at a casino-motel filled with dark passageways and two-way mirrors — a lot like the film's satisfyingly pulpy, B-movie plot. “Not that smart” but “attractive enough to be clever...”? What does that even mean? It's smart enough not to really ask the questions, just show some people wrestling w/how they resolved them. It doesn't over promise so doesn't under deliver. Best and most honest review I've read about this movie thus far, and after watching the trailer I definitely need to go see it !
