Indianapolis museum apologizes for job listing citing 'white art audience’

The Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields has apologized for a job listing which sought a new director to maintain the museum’s “traditional, core, white art audience”.

Accidently on purpose

I believe there is a federal law against this very behaviour; not sure what an apology is going to solve! EEOC USEEOC EEOC_OFO

I'd like to hear an honest explanation of how that bit of copy was formulated. Somebody needs to be outed.

OK, it is The Midwest...but still! So, someone or a favored bot or a dysfunctional spellmatter function wrote that? Wasn’t that long ago that ethnic purity competitions highlighted state fairs in...them vasty, breezy plains. True.

Real question: is there an Indianapolis in the UK? As an American, I was surprised either to learn there's another Indianapolis or that the US city is well-known enough to need no reference to its being in the US.

I think the article is even more damning than the headline. Instead of saying it was an error or an unintentional misstep, the director is like “yeah we totally meant it, we want to keep the whites, but we can see it sounds bad now.” 🤔

Should be interesting.

Fools they should have listed a job for black art audience, they would have gotten praise and adulation for being so progressive.

I see nothing wrong with that.
