Police nationwide are facing a heightened danger: Criminals are using home surveillance cameras to monitor their movements. The FBI believes that may have happened this week when two of its agents were gunned down by a child pornography suspect in Florida.

and wounded three others. He then killed himself. The agency hasn’t said whether Huber’s camera had a motion detector, but that could explain why he was awaiting the agents Tuesday before dawn — an hour officers often pick for raids because the suspect is likely asleep.

“They were the only ones who could afford it,” said Thomas, who worked for the Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Gainesville, Florida, police departments. Thomas said police tactics often trail new technology and will need to be adjusted to deal with doorbell cameras and other home surveillance systems. He said departments may start having more warrants served by heavily armed tactical units and use diversions, such as breaking a side window before going to the door, to distract the suspect.

🇺🇸🦅I am neither for Republicans nor for Democrats, but for the right man in the White House, sovereignty, loyalty, a president for the middle, a president for the people, even if a president cannot please everyone, love his Country with respect and awe, his motto is diplomacy!

Maybe they should start using jammers when conducting warrants. Don't blame technology for your 'failure to use technology'

Who would alert a chomo?

Seems that this isn’t new being well established. the question is what was the planning before the incident

So now what, a total ban on doorbell cameras?

sisu_sanity pretty sure the abundance of guns and military weapons in USA is more problematic to law enforcement than home cameras

We tried to tell them the surveillance state was a bad idea, but carry on.

Oh Florida.

Bet the cop killer was into Q anon

Alert !! WARNING !!First It is Nigeria bans BITCOIN And all CRYPTO now it will be the Rest of the world Get out of this Pyramid Fugazi Ponzi Scam now! Tesla is A pyramid Scam waiting to collapse! DUMP THEM ALL NOW SPARE YOURSELF!

Turnabout is fairplay. The police do it, even sue to keep doing it. They don't get to whine when others do it too.

😯

Knowing that he was probably armed why didnt the FBI use a swat team with bullet proof shield? Thoughts and prayers with the families of those who lost their lives.

As a single mother to a teenage daughter who lives alone, don’t single out surveillance systems, they’ve helped a great deal with my anxiety.

It was the gun that killed them, but its the camera that everyone thinks is the threat.

Was it a security camera or a gun that shot them? Maybe blame the guns?

Did the shooter have legally held weapons?

Of course people are using their cameras to watch out for Anyone approaching... What a silly article. Even Tony Montana did Your telling me this wasn’t anticipated?

Maybe dont go busting into peoples homes. Ask them to come outside. Wait them out dont force a confrontation.

Can we talk about facial recognition the cops are using instead

Seems like this article is a cover for the government to outlaw private citizens from recording police activities. It is unfortunate that these agents died while attempting to apprehend a true degenerate, but their deaths will not sway public opinion, nor should it. RECORD POLICE

Surveillance on citizens by law enforcement = 'necessary' Surveillance on law enforcement by citizens? 'dangerous'

And? Are we supposed to give a shit?

They should have come like they were arresting a 70-year-old political consultant.

Police were all for them when they were using them. Now the tables have turned.

This makes no sense. It's like saying the window was used to help ambush.

This story is the exception, not the rule.

Defund and abolish the police. Fund communities instead. Cops can quit their jobs.

My solutions are easy, not difficult for the authorities to get done, require no extra body armor, training and doesn't try to take home security systems away from law abiding people. It's targeted to that one house.

Thought that was Rosamund Pike.

All of the Democrats railing against Cops as 'bastards' and 'murderers' is to blame. AOC and Kamala Harris actually bailed out these violent thugs in support of criminals 'pressed' by police. This is what you get when you throw gas on a fire.

The FBI wasn’t prepared for criminals to have RING doorbells or garage cams?

Hard to believe that FBIMiamiFL FBI wouldn’t anticipate that a suspect who works w/ computers wouldn’t have security cameras outside his residence! Why would they leave themselves open to this❓ Wray has to go POTUS VP RonaldKlain❗️ Too many high profile mistakes lately❗️

Ya think?!

Then why not go to the ISP that services the suspects house and have the service shut off just before they're going to serve the warrant? Or kill their power just before hand wouldn't both of those cancel out the cameras?

Said correctly - home security systems can be used for good or evil Evil people will do evil things.

Why don’t we have full armor like iron man for the police by now? We have the tech. If we invested an amount equal to the one Trump spent golfing we could save some blue lives !

This is the wrong framing

The threat here is not the surveillance cameras, it’s the gun obsessed Americans

And the media is also them !

Biden’s America

Manufacturing consent for the New Patriot Act, I see

Terrible

Wait.. you mean the industrial mass surveillance state..is now concerned about surveillance? Lol. Cute little snowflake

Rules for thee but not for me

Stupid framing of the story. The guns are the problem, not doorbell cameras.

seems like the access to guns might have heightened the danger a bit too

There must be consistency when it comes to surveillance. If citizens are not allowed to record law enforcement, then law enforcement should not be allowed to record us. That would be characteristic of an authoritarian police state. 4A StandAgainstTyranny

Estariam utilizando drones?

Maybe a commercial surveillance state wasn't super genius social engineering? Hard to feel sorry for the state having inflicted upon it that which it inflicts upon it's citizens. Hope they end up catching the pedo though.

ya somebody will always misuse technology, from ring cams to the intertnet, cars to guns, this is and always will be a problem.

'He then killed himself.' ... why didn't he start with that? what does he stand to gain from killing FBI agents?

This is unfortunate and sad, but there is no reason to further expand the police state that we live in.

Tough. You betray the public trust? You get the cameras.

It's called a two-edged sword.

😥

That’s too ducking bad

THE LORD is giving a chance to every single person to prepare and enter THE KINGDOM OF GOD. Those that will obey and prepare now for the coming of THE MESSIAH will enter The KINGDOM of GOD. GrandVigilExpo

FBI needs to outsmart the cameras.

So cops can record us but we can't record them?

overwhelmingly these cameras do more good than harm.
