While some are of the opinion that only the mainstream brand of afrobeats is commercially viable in Nigeria, a budding artiste, Dezign Ogheneovo, vehemently disagrees.

According to him, reggae music is commercially viable and appreciated by a lot of people., “I want to disabuse the minds of people who think that only afrobeats is commercially viable in Nigeria. Music is vast and can be expressed in different ways. The diversity in music is what makes it so interesting and appealing. We all cannot like the same type of music. People appreciate my brand of music and I promise to keep giving my fans the best, while also winning over new admirers.

The artiste, songwriter and instrumentalist who hails from Ughelli in Delta State, listed great reggae artistes such as Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, Wyclef Jean and Cocoa Tea, as his musical influences. Signed to MVP Records, which is jointly owned by Ochuko Omiragwa and Micheal Okon, Dezign Ovo maintained that he was set to do great things in 2021. “Right from when I released my debut single titled,in 2013, I have had my eyes set on getting to the top of the industry. And, I am thankful that I am being recognised and applauded. I got four nominations at the South-South Music Awards, and won in the Video of The Year category for Paradize.
