Nick Knowles 'tried to buy I'm A Celebrity castle for a fiver'

It’s been claimed that Nick believed the project could bring in a wealth of jobs to Abergele in Conwy, but backed out when he learnt it would cost an eye-watering £1.5million to rebuild it.

‘Nick wanted to use the ethos of the BBC1 show to help bring jobs to the area and put some money into the local economy,’ an insider claimed.‘But the scale of the repairs needed, and the complications of Gwrych Castle being a Grade 1 listed building, simply made it impossible.’: ‘The price he offered to pay may seem ridiculously small, but it was a token offer reflecting the cash he was considering putting into rescuing a landmark in that corner of Wales.

Despite the total cost for the repair project being totalled around £10million, they hope to raise £50,000 so they can turn on the taps and lights again. ‘We need your help to enable us to finally blow out the candles and bring light back to Gwrych Castle for the first time since the 1980s,’ the post read.
