"As COVID-19 economically devastates music workers everywhere, it’s even clearer that Spotify’s existing model is counter to the needs of the vast majority of artists," the union said in a statement introducing demands.
Those demands break down into three main sections. The first, centering on payments, includes paying artists one cent per stream of their music, or the local-currency equivalent, an increase over the average blended Spotify rate of $0.0038; and a switch to a user-centric payment model, rather than the current pro-rata model, which, in theory, would mean artists get paid according to the number of streams their music gets rather than at a pro-rata proportion of all streams collectively.
In terms of the payment demands, the Union points to the number of streams it would take for a song to generate $1 on the platform , to pay for an average cup of coffee and to cover the average American monthly rent of $1,078 .
VNUE inc is trying to do just that with their soundstr. Musicians and artists will get paid rightfully once their songs are being played in public.
I'm still stuck at Justice for Juicy. You know, Juicy Smooyay, the French actor. Until we get Justice for Juicy, I'm not concerned about justice for anything else.
