Harold"Heshy" Tischler, an activist in the city's Orthodox Jewish neighborhood of Borough Park, was taken into custody Sunday following an Oct. 7 protest against limits on the number of worshippers in synagogues. In a video from the protest posted to social media, a maskless Tischler and others are seen encircling and screaming at Jacob Kornbluh, a journalist forwho has reported on the resistance to the COVID-19 restrictions. Kornbluh also claims he was kicked by the crowd.A few yards away, cops agree to close more streets, joking around with same men who just beat up a reporter

Time and time again, I am shocked how Orthodox Jewish community (not all of course) behave recklessly not only in USA, but in Israel during the deadly pandemic of COVID19. Judaism & Torah doesn't teach to spread the disease & be ignorant. I condemn such dangerous behavior.

In late spring my synagogue decided to hold ALL our religious gatherings online-including High Holiday services-for as long as it takes to ensure the health&safety of our entire community. We take G-d's directives on these important issues seriously. I'm ashamed by these antics.
