Cinemas across Europe have expressed their outrage at the decision by Hollywood studio Disney to bypass a big-screen release for the new Pixar animation Soul and debut the film on their streaming platform Disney+.
Let's face facts here, very little released to date, Cinema or Streaming has set the world alight in 2020. I think streaming is being used to bury duds and the fact most people are bored now will probably guarantee them a higher income than a cinema release.
Not sure why they're shocked. Disney's stock price is getting rewarded every time they move something direct to streaming even if it destroys earning power...
Better sound and picture at home as my local Odeon hasn’t upgraded the sound since the 90s.
( personal opinion, as a regular cinema goer).... This decision isnt exactly helping the cinema industry, or the cinema audiences! I have always felt so blessed to see streamed in concerts into cinemas, but I for one, wont be ' streaming' a film I wanted to see at the cinema!☹️
RIP Commercial cinema, 1895-2020. It's taken a surprisingly long time. Most screens will probably never open again. A little unexpected that the film studios themselves have killed it off, though.
well its encouraging people to stay home so surely a good thing
Unpopular opinion, but I’m pleased. Sorry for the staff, but I no longer want to sit in a cinema/Petrie dish surrounded by 200 random coughers who chat and fiddle with their phones every 5 minutes and pay £65 for the family and £7 for popcorn. I’m old and grumpy, but not alone.
