El-Sayed, a former Detroit health commissioner, is a CNN expert on COVID-19, but in 2018 challenged frontrunner and eventual winner Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan's Democratic primary to replace Republican Gov. Rick Snyder. Using exclusive access, Huckabee follows El-Sayed and his underdog campaign team as they seek endorsements from Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who both appear in the doc, and battle against Islamophobia and the Michigan political establishment.is produced by Huckabee and Joshua Seftel, with Wajahat Ali as a consulting producer.
