The concept for the film was based on John’s personal experiences and should not have been replicated.”
“While we immediately took action and removed the local version of the campaign, we recognize that this was painful and that offense was caused,” the statement added. “We respect John, and support our partners and fans globally. Why make him a ambassador of the brand then use his add to only cut him out of it and replace it with only Chinese people. That sends message of even if his work is good enough his skin colour will never be
He wasn't just 'cut' from the commercial, they took the concept he developed and directed and then reshot it with new actors without telling him. They plagiarized his work.
