Parents have been warned to keep children off TikTok, as a graphic video of a man who suicided circulates on the popular app.

“Our systems have been automatically detecting and flagging these clips for violating our policies against content that displays, praises, glorifies, or promotes suicide,” a statement from TikTok said.

“A large number of them were really upset when I said they’re legally not allowed to be on TikTok because they’re not 13,” Mrs Mclean told news.com.au when she called back.“If you don’t have parents who are actively parenting their children you’re going to have these issues,” Mrs Mclean said. “They’ve made massive improvements in seeing stuff before it happens but the point of live [streaming] is you’re doing it live, so you don’t get forewarning of what it is.”

My 15yr old daughter saw the video. It automatically played on her TikTok ‘For You’ feed. She reported it. tiktok_us response was that the clip did not breach their guidelines. WTAF?! Are they kidding?! 🤬
