Born in Ontario, Canada, Cordero’s career began in Toronto before he made his way to New York in 2007, appearing in New Jersey and off-Broadway productions. In 2012, he was cast in the Broadway cast of, but his theatrical breakout would come in 2014, in his award-winning role of Cheech — a gangster with a fondness for theater — in. Cordero passed away in July at the age of 41 following weeks of intensive care after being hospitalized for COVID-19.
